It's that time of year - the season for Halloween howls and ghoulish fun! Whether you're looking to be properly petrified, rave all night long, or indulge in some innocent spooktastic fun with the family, there's a Halloween festival out there for you. We've picked out 7 fang-tastic festivals which are sure to give you a real gh'oul time! Don't say you haven't been warned...

1. Zombie Fest

Location:
Mildenhall Stadium, Suffolk
Date:
28th October 2017 

Dubbed as East Anglia's largest Halloween festival, Zombie Fest is an all-night fancy dress dance party open from 6pm to 6am. Early bird tickets are all sold out but if you're quick, you might be able to bag the final release of tickets on sale at £42.05. Website

2. Twisted Circus Festival

O2 Arena, London
Date:
27th October 2017

This 'horror show' of a festival opens at 10pm and features live circus acts throughout the night including a secret centrepiece performance. But your main reason for going should be the first class DJ line-up the event has to offer. The dress code is strict - fancy dress or no entry, and tickets currently cost from £21.50. Website

3. Screamfest

National Forest Adventure Farm, Burton Upon Trent
Date:
19th-31st October 2017

Definitely not for the faint-hearted, Screamfest is set in the National Forest Adventure Farm and offers a variety of attractions which are designed to scare you senseless (think 'Day of the Dead' maze and haunted hotels). There is also other entertainment and a live DJ. Tickets are priced from £19.50-£25 and the event is open from 7-11pm each day it runs. Website

4.Frightmare Halloween Festival

Location:
Over Farm Market, Gloucester
Date:
30th September-31st October 2017 

Running on various dates over a month (the next available dates are 20th-31st October), events range from 'Fun by Day' for kids, 'Slightmare' for older children, and 'Scary by Night' for predominantly adults. As well as the main attractions, there are also a variety of other entertainment, including fairground rides, and food. Tickets range from between £21 to £27 or cheaper if buying in bulk. Website

5. Shocktober Fest

Location:
Crawley, West Sussex
Date:
30th September-4th November 2017

Regarded as Europe's largest scream park, Shocktober Fest features a number of attractions including haunts, street theatre, fireworks, and live music. Tickets are priced between £32 and £70 depending on date and ticket type. Website

6. Ghost Fest

Location:
Oxford Castle
Date:
19th-31st October 2017

The 4 separate events held by Ghost Fest run over 2 weeks and include a spooky tour inside the so-called haunted Oxford castle and prison, a family-friendly tour,  a Halloween-themed family fun event, and an adults-only midnight tour. Tickets range from under £10 for the family events to £25 for the midnight tour (glass of bubbly included in the latter). Website

7. The Big Sheep Festival

Location:
Bideford, North Devon
Date:
21st-29th October 2017

This festival offers two main events. The first is aimed at young children and includes a variety of entertainment such as rides, pumpkin carving, a haunted house, and a Halloween pantomime. The second event is held from 6-10pm and is aimed at an older crowd. There's a huge indoor playing area at both events. Tickets are £11.16 for the day and £6 for the night. Website
