Are you looking to book a music festival for the family? With hundreds of music festivals in the UK alone, and a huge proportion of these catering extremely well for kids as well as adults, how do you know where to start? We’ve come up with our top 10 of not only some of the best child-friendly music festivals, but those which are aimed specifically at families. 

1.Camp Bestival

Lulworth Castle, Dorset

Kids are king at this top family festival in Dorset. With a huge array of activities and entertainment on offer, there is something for everyone of all ages, from toddler to teenager (and of course, grown ups). 2017 festival kids’ highlights included School of Rock, Mr Tumble, a giant kid’s disco with the world’s largest disco ball, the worlds’ biggest bouncy castle, kids theatre, science and art tents, soft play…you name it, it was there. Next year marks the festival’s 10th birthday and CBeebies Magazine is one of several acts coming to the castle to entertain. Website

2. Deer Shed Festival

Regarded by many as one of the top family festivals in the North, Deer Shed integrates kids’ entertainment across the festival site, which is close to the campsites. Aside from the music, there’s a sports arena and huge selection of arts and crafts workshops. It’s very well catered for under 5s, making available baths, baby massage, storytelling, parent and toddler yoga. And there’s a baby rave! Website

3. Bluedot

Bluedot is an intergalactic award-winning festival best known for its jam-packed programme of live science experiments, immersed with a line-up of inspiring music, arts, and cultural acts. Website

4. Bearded Theory

Catton Hall, Derbyshire

24-27 May 2018

Held during the late May Bank Holiday weekend, Bearded Theory offers a Festival School on the Friday, providing kids with an exciting educational day to compliment the national curriculum. It’s free and they can assist in taking your child out of school without you being fined. For teens, the Rogues Hideout is the ideal escape from the grown ups. Website

5. Just So Festival

Just So is the UK’s only arts camping festival dedicated solely to children and their families and also won an award for being the most accessible outdoor festival for Deaf and disabled people. Think theatre, dance and music set within a wondrous and magical landscape. Website

6. The Big Feastival

A family festival combining top-class food with live music, The Big Feastival has an area devoted for kids, offering an array of activities around music, arts and theatre, as well as market stalls especially for little ones. Website

7. Shambala

Secret Country Estate, Northamptonshire

Regarded as a ‘legendary party’, Shambala boasts a highly vibrant kids’ area, jam-packed with activities and entertainment such as craft workshops, sandpits, a Monster Disco, and bedtime storytelling. With over 200 diverse musical acts and a world-class cabaret, there’s plenty for everyone of all ages. Website

8. Geronimo

Held over two weekends of the year, Geronimo is regarded as the ‘ultimate family festival in the UK’, catering solely for children under 13 and their families. Through the huge variety of activities on offer, families are encouraged to play, learn, and create magical memories together. A CBeebies fan’s paradise! Website

9. Beautiful Days

The family music festival founded by the Levellers, Beautiful Days has a children’s area in the centre of the festival for toddlers through to teens. It’s been shortlisted several times for Best Family Festival by the UK Festival Awards, which is impressive despite having no sponsorship, branding or advertising. Website

This family friendly festival is set within beautiful lake surroundings and combines amazing music with family entertainment, adventure playgrounds, workshops, activities and more. Website
